Sara McCullah Ridings is the dance teacher at Douglas Creative Arts and Science Elementary.
Ms. Ridings has one son, Will, who is a high schooler and hockey player. We love Carolina Hurricanes hockey!
She grew up in Ohio and Michigan, studying ballet and modern dance from elementary through high school.
After moving to North Carolina in 1983, Ms. Ridings graduated from UNCGreensboro with a degree in Dance Education and Psychology, 1987. She attended Norfolk State University and added K-6 licensure in 1992.
Ms. Ridings received National Board Certification as a MIddle Childhood Generalist in 2006 and renewed in 2015. She earned a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Integrated Teaching Through the Arts from Lesley University, 2011.
Ms. Ridings is passionate about using dance to learn and integrating the arts--especially dance-- into all aspects of a child's education. To that end, she works as a North Carolina A+ Fellow to help other teachers learn to integrate the arts in their own classrooms.
